My understanding of character and narrative

The importance

Every major film or game has started life as an idea ... someone planted the seed ...

it didnt just miraculously pop into the shape of a finished piece, there are numerous channels in which it flows and manifests slowly into its final stage of completion.

so this story/ idea needs to grow, and thats where the narrative comes in, the very first stage of development, for what is a story without a narrative? nothing

so the narrative needs to be established before production can begin

this can be in the form of scripts

But more course specific, storyboards

a fantastic way to portray every part of the animation in a neat document, the narrative, the characters, and the design, these are all lightly touched on and the main focus is the story.

this is just an example, but you can see my storyboard for this module in my blog, it roughs out the narrative whilst touching on all other aspects of the project.

They have influenced my project more so this year due to my better understanding of how they work and how important they are!!
